Following God's Map

The Book of Proverbs
Proverbs Chapter 16
Scripture= Proverbs 16:1, 3, 7, 9 (The Message)
1 Mortals make elaborate plans, but God has the last word.
3 Put God in charge of your work, then what you've planned will take place.
7 When God approves of your life, even your enemies will end up shaking your hand
9 We plan the way we want to live, but only God makes us able to live it.
33 Make your motions and cast your votes, but God has the final say.
Observation=As you read these verses in Proverbs chapter 16 you see one predominate thought. God is the one who directs our lives!
We might think that we are independent from any external sources directing our lives but these verses tell us that God is the one who is really in control.
Look at each verse:
· Verse 1, “God has the last word.”
· Verse 3, “Put God in charge of your work, then...”
· Verse 7, “When God approves of your life.”
· Verse 9, “But only God makes us able to live it.”
· Verse 33, “But God has the final say.”
Application=We might think that we are traveling through life on our own but it is God who has laid out our map and he alone knows what tomorrow will bring. It is a life of faith that trust’s that God will make our paths straight. Read Proverbs 3:5-6 from The Message Bible, “Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track.”
This advice from Solomon is right-on when it comes to trusting in God with the map of our lives. When you think that you are in control remember these four rules:
RULES FOR TRUSTING GOD
1. Trust God in every way you can.
2. Don’t try to figure things out and when you try, remember rule number one and tell yourself, “God CAN be trusted.”
3. Listen for God’s direction in every situation. That is how you will know which direction to travel in.
4. Constantly remind yourself that GOD IS IN CONTROL he is the one who will keep you heading in the right direction.
Prayer= Lord Jesus, forgive me for thinking that I am in charge. I surrender to your plans and your ways for me today! You alone are God and I want my obedience and trust in you to be my worship.

I loved how you approached this chapter today Dan. We didn't make it to church, so your blog was my church today!
