The Walk Home

The Gospel of John
John Chapter 4
Scripture: John 4:50-51 (The Message) 50-51
Jesus simply replied, "Go home. Your son lives." The man believed the bare word Jesus spoke and headed home. On his way back, his servants intercepted him and announced, "Your son lives!"
Observation: Can I believe the word of God, “the bare word”? Do I need a sign or a visitation or can I stand on the word and the word alone? Jesus just spoke to the man and said, “go home your son lives.” The man left. He didn’t ask for assurances. He didn’t ask how he would know it was true. He didn’t ask anyone what they thought about the word he was given. He just went home! He stepped out in faith literally and went home. The word WAS good enough and he walked in it! This was a huge risk, his son was dieing! He acted on “the bare word Jesus spoke and headed home!”
Application: What is it that you need? What does the Word of God say about it? Are you ready and willing to stand on the “Word?” Are you ready to head home? I must know what the Word says about my need or situation and then I need to stand on “the Word” without a sign or a demonstration! The Word became flesh and lived among us (1:14) and I can trust in and full rely on the Word. I can believe the words of Jesus. Standing on the Word I can head home!
Prayer: Lord Jesus I want to stand on your Word. Help me to trust on what you say and consider it done. May my actions be like this Father may I simply believe and hang on. Help me make the journey home.
