Just Do It!
The Gospel of John Chapter 2
Scripture: John 2:5 (New International Version)
His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."
Observation: Mary, the mother of Jesus, understood who Jesus was. She might not have known all that would happen to him but she knew that He was from God! She understood that Jesus had power and authority to do things that other men or women could not do. She also knew that there was an expectation of obedience that went along with His authority. She told the servants directly, “do whatever he tells you.” There is no margin for disagreement here. It is not the time to take a vote or consider other options. “Do whatever;” it is clear; just do it. Even if you don’t understand, just do it. Don’t worry about the outcome, just do it! Whatever…just do it! What part of "just do it" don’t you understand?
Application: Oh to live like that; just do it! Do I really know Jesus? Then just do it! Do I trust Jesus? Then just do it! Does He know what is best? Then just do it? Will I be better off? Then just do it! I think I am getting the point; then just do it! Look at the results when I just do it (see verses 9-11). They are better than anything that has happened before.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I want to obey you and do whatever you ask me to do. I will leave the results in your hands and give you the glory for the outcome.
