The Grace of the Cross
Galatians 2S= Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.
O= This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible. It is the mantra of a crucified life. Verses 16-21 are incredible! No flesh is justified by obeying the law but that doesn’t mean that we have open season to live however we want. The law does set a standard of living but not to save us! The law reveals our sin and points out how an impossible a standard God has set before us! God has placed His Spirit in us so we will know His laws and be able to follow them. We do have freedom from the law but a life of sin will kill us. We are crucified with Christ when we accept His death as the payment of our sins. We then accept His resurrected life as our life. This is a walk of faith because every day we will feel the pull to justify ourselves through the rules or live as we want and satisfy our own selfish desires. We walk according to verse 20, a walk of faith, daily trusting that Jesus will be our life; that His provision for our sin will cover all our sin, that His life will empower us and that because of His love for us He will never forsake us when we fail! (Please read Romans chapter 6)
A= I need to walk in what Christ has done for me. Every day I must understand that I am dead to my sin nature, that it has been crucified with Christ. It has no power over me. I must then rely on Christ to empower me to live out my day in His ability. His love is what makes the difference. He is not waiting for me to make a mistake but instead is there with me, in me, cheering me on and giving me everything I need to live a life that is pleasing to Him. I need Him for everything if I am dead. I can’t go back and trust the sin life that once used to empower me. That life brings death. I must live in the life that Jesus brings. That life gives life, not just to me but to all of those around me who will accept it!
P=Dear Father in Heaven, today I want to walk by faith in the life that I have been given in Christ! Father, you provided this life for me and Jesus you purchased it with your life. Today Jesus, by your precious Holy Spirit, help to see your life verses the old life, and help me to walk by faith in it. Thank you for loving me and dying for me and thank you for giving me your life. May those around me see your life in me!
