This is one of my favorite New Testament books because it is such a reminder to trust in Grace and Grace alone! There are always several verses to choose from each day but the Holy Spirit always knows which one will be just what we need for that day. That’s the power of Grace!
Galatians 1
S= Galatians 1:10 “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.
O= Paul hits the ground running in this letter to the churches of Galatia. There are not the greetings and introductions of his other letters. Paul gets down to business right away in verse 6 and tells the readers of this letter that he has heard that they are turning away from the truth of the gospel of Christ! Any gospel other than the one he preached to them he says is really know gospel at all! Paul states that whoever preaches any other gospel (even Paul himself) different than the one he gave to them should be cursed from all forms of life, spiritual and physical. Verse 10, is a verse that has hit me between the eyes many times. It is so easy to cater to those who you can see with your eyes and have immediate contact with. God can seem so removed and we begin to be controlled by people’s opinions of us. This verse is also about more than this; it is about the Gospel itself. Many people think that if grace is preached that you will give people license to sin. Paul talks about this in Romans 6:1ff. Paul has been accused of preaching grace because it is what people want to hear. I have found that this is not the case. People would rather have a formula to follow, something to do rather than to just trust and accept the free gift of God’s grace. Somehow we don’t want to admit that we are powerless and in total need of a savior and a sanctifier. If I think that somehow, someway things do depend on me then I can feel like I am paying God back or acknowledging in some way that He made a good choice in choosing me. We have been given something as a gift that we do not deserve and can NEVER pay back; grace must be accepted and lived out daily!
A= I don’t ever want to try and overcome grace or take it for granted. This doesn’t allow me to have either an anything goes attitude or a works mentality. I also cannot be afraid to preach Grace even if I am accused of weakening the Word of God. I have been told, “there is more to the Bible than grace.” May it never be so! Grace alone! I cannot worry about what people say. I want to live under grace as one who understands what God has done for me and filled with continual wonder, never hesitate to tell others about the incredible goodness of my God!
P= Lord, show me your grace again and again! Please don’t ever let me grow complacent to its power or its favor. It is a precious gift Lord Jesus that you paid for at a great price. Thank you for allowing grace to fall like rain upon me! May I faithfully, being full of gratitude, share in love the good news!

Gal. 1- NO Greater Calling
I've read this chapter several times.... But this morning, one verse spoke to me very loudly. As I was reading this chapter, it was as though someone took a mega-phone or extra bold writing to speak to me. Paul wrote in verses 15-17 "But when God, who set me apart from birth and called me by his grace, was pleased 16 to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not consult any man, 17 nor did I go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I was, but I went immediately into Arabia and later returned to Damascus." Many of us know the story of Paul, and how he persecuted many Christians to death. I didn't realize that when Paul was called of God, he didn't consult anyone. In fact, he didn't even speak to any of the disciples until three years later, when he met with Peter in Jerusalem. I am not called to full time ministry, but I know God has put some things in my heart- yet I have managed over the years to push them back. This morning I realized that I simply need to "do it." We live in a society where acceptance from mankind is important- and I can relate to that myself. I want to be obedient to the call that God has placed on my life. So many things in our lives don't fall into place because we haven't done what God has asked of us- I challenge everyone reading this blog - if God has put something on your heart- DO IT! There will always be something that will come in the way; always an excuse or a dance and song to stop you from moving into what God has called you. Being called of God almighty is one of the greatest callings from the greatest - take it as a privilege and do it with honor!
God bless,
Helene
